Since the 1970s, the San Antonio Museum of Art has meticulously culminated its comprehensive collection of ceramics, paintings, and world art – from the Americas and Europe to Asian and Egypt. The museum collection features many famous art works from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, with a few pieces dating back as early as 3600 B.C. With more than 500 guided tours annually, art aficionados will enjoy visiting this historic museum not only for its impressive permanent collections, but its educational programs and special exhibitions throughout the year.

Overall, the museum specializes in American, Egyptian, Roman, Asian, Ancient Mediterranean, Contemporary, European, Islamic, Latin American, and Oceanic art. Notable pieces at the museum include William-Adolphe Bouguereau’s painting entitled Admiration (1897) and the Statuette of Aphrodite (1st-3rd century A.D.). The museum also presents special exhibitions throughout the year.
